Vital Ingredient is a free class at Drexel University's Dornsife Center for Neighborhood Partnerships that pairs culinary literacy with digital skills. Each week, participants will begin in the kitchen learning cooking techniques from Chef Brian Lofink. The class will then move to the computer lab and learn how to create and showcase their culinary experience through blogging with Kevin Williams.

Knife Skills
Chef Brian instructed us on the types of knives and how each was best utilized. In addition, we were taught how to prepare fruits and vegetables safely and uniformly depending on their application. Also, he demonstrated the proper method to sharpen and hone knives, using the tool specific to each task. I didn't do so well with the Technology part because I need more basic computer skills.
